Petros Zoumboulakis, Composition

Painting Composition by Petros Zoumboulakis

The painting Composition by Petros Zoumboulakis is an abstract representation with intense colour lyricism. The artist gives a surrealistic flair to his compositions, departing from classic styles and combining various art movements and references. His paintings are featured in many private and public collections, such as the Alpha Bank Art Collection.

The Composition by Petros Zoumboulakis depicts the statue of an ancient kore (maiden), prevalent inside an eerie landscape. The predominant blue and red colour palette creates a surrealistic scene with strong lyricism and an abstract flair, framing the ancient sculpture.

The painted rendition of natural space was of particular interest to Zoumboulakis as early as the 1970s. However, he did not restrict himself to the usual types of landscapes. He created peculiar, surrealistic compositions with various references, such as the ancient kore.
