The Alpha Bank Historical Archives participated in organising the 14th and 15th series of the Open Seminar on Economic History. The seminar aimed to spark a discussion on research under way and studies relating to the problems of the Greek and international economic history.

The Alpha Bank Historical Archives participated in organising the 14th (2017-2018) and 15th (2018-2019) series of the Open Seminar on Economic History.
The Open Seminar was hosted twice a month at the K.T. Dimaras Hall of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens historical archives, on 45 Skoufa Street, Athens, Greece.
Distinguished speakers
The Seminar welcomed 28 distinguished professors and researchers from Greece and abroad. They covered nearly every aspect of humanities and social sciences.
Showcasing research and studies
The Seminar mainly aimed to:
- Showcase and spark discussions on research under way.
- Study more closely the problems encountered in the Greek and international economic history.
The programme chose to present how history is cross-linked to other scientific fields, and to nurture fertile discussions between experts and the audience on modern conundrums.
Wide acceptance
The 2 series were widely accepted by the audience. Regular attendees included academics, researchers, students, journalists, authors and employees working in Alpha Bank divisions and branches.
Focus on economic history
The Open Seminar was an initiative introduced by historians, mainly focusing on economic history.
It grew to become a fundamental force: it brought together historians, economists and other experts. Among them was Kostas Kostis, Advisor to the Management of Alpha Bank and Professor of Economic and Social History, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Co-hosted by the French School at Athens
The French School at Athens co-hosted the 15th series (2018-2019). This series was mostly focused on economic and political issues from the history of modern and present-day Greece.
