The Alpha Bank Art Collection is participating in the exhibition “Konstantinos Parthenis. Painting an Ideal Greece”. This is the 1st comprehensive retrospective exhibition dedicated to the oeuvre of this outstanding Greek painter. It is one more Alpha Bank action promoting Greek culture and intellectual heritage.

The Alpha Bank Art Collection is participating in the exhibition “Konstantinos Parthenis. Painting an Ideal Greece”, loaning 6 important pieces by Kontantinos Parthenis: ·

- Spyros P. Loverdos, late 1920s, Oil on canvas 70 x 61 cm
- Spyridon P. Loverdos, cα. 1930, Oil on canvas 129 x 95 cm
- Olives, 1930s, Oil on canvas 70 x 61 cm
- Athena, 1920’s, Pastels, charcoal and watercolours on cardboard 49 x 40 cm
- Parthenis Exhibition/Zappeion, 1920, 2-tone lithography, 100 x 70 cm
These 6 works include 3 portraits of the Loverdos brothers by the great painter. The other 3 pieces are a landscape, a mythological theme and a poster from a major retrospective exhibition for Parthenis held at Zappeio in 1920.
Parthenis and the bank
The 3 portraits of the Loverdos brothers were the product of the close friendship between Konstantinos Parthenis and the art-loving bankers and founders of Popular Bank, a part of the vivid history of Alpha Bank. This friendship explains on multiple levels the relationship between Alpha Bank and the artist.
An important retrospective exhibition
It is the first comprehensive retrospective exhibition dedicated to the oeuvre of outstanding Greek painter Konstantinos Parthenis, one of the most important artists of modern Greek art. The exhibition is part of our actions to promote Greek culture and intellectual heritage.
Address by Vassilis Rapanos
Mr Vassilis Rapanos, Chairman of the Alpha Bank Board of Directors, made an address at the opening of the exhibition, referencing the bank’s contribution: “Our
