“Paper Money – The Greek Banknote” (2022-2023)

For yet another school year (2022-2023) the Banknote Museum of Ionian Bank on the island of Corfu is presenting the educational programme “Paper Money – The Greek Banknote” for children aged 9-15. The programme has been approved by the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.

The aim of the programme is for children to learn the history of money, focusing on the Greek banknotes that circulated from the founding of the Greek State in 1830 to the introduction of the euro in 2002.

Through discussion and the use of relevant useful material, the children become acquainted with the representations on Greek banknotes and get to know milestones in Greek history. They also realise their creative potential by drawing a banknote, and cultivate their social skills and team spirit through teamwork.

The children receive 2 brochures specially designed for 2 educational levels (primary and junior high school). The brochures are support material for the treasure hunt within the exhibition premises.
