The Alpha Bank Art Collection and the National Historical Museum are organising the exhibition “Greece, an iconic land. Art in the Greek National Tourism Organisation posters (1929-1976)” at the Banknote Museum of Ionian Bank on Corfu. The exhibition features 46 poster-artworks that contributed greatly to shaping the international image of Greece.

The exhibition includes 46 posters by the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO), originating from the Alpha Bank Art Collection, the National Historical Museum and the private collection of Spiros P. Gaoutsis.
Aim of the exhibition
The exhibition highlights the way in which Greece is presented to the world as a living cultural destination and a source of inspiration through 46 poster-artworks by the GNTO, created by leading artists and photographers in the 20th century.
Through these iconic posters, visitors have the opportunity to discover the history of Greek tourism, as well as the new visual identity through which Greece established itself on the international cultural map.
Artists featured in the exhibition
The artists who took part in this creative journey played a defining role in shaping the aesthetic identity of Greek tourism.
At the heart of the exhibition are: Yannis Tsarouchis, Yiannis Moralis, Panayiotis Tetsis, Spyros Vassiliou, Periklis Vyzantios, Louisa Montesantou and Nelly’s.
