The publication Serifos During the Turkish Rule (17th-19th Century) attempts an analytic approach of the tax-collecting mechanisms that operated in the Turkish-ruled Greek areas. It uses the example of a distinct community, such as that of Serifos. The main features of this community were the agricultural economy and the parallel practice of stock-raising.
