The publication The Alpha Bank Collection. Greek Art from 1950 until Today (Rhodes) features 50 paintings and prints dated from 1950 onwards. The pieces were created by Greek avant-garde artists.
The publication outlines the evolution of contemporary Greek art in a period of constant change.
The catalogue of a remarkable exhibition
The publication accompanied the exhibition “The Alpha Bank Collection. Greek Art from 1950 until Today” that opened at the Modern Greek Art Museum of Rhodes – Nestoridion Melathron on 8 June 2016.
The exhibition was co-hosted by the Alpha Bank Art Collection and the Modern Greek Art Museum of Rhodes.
Notable avant-garde artists
The publication features works by Greek avant-garde artists, namely: Y. Gaitis, G. Vakalo, V. Caniaris, P. Tetsis, N. Kessanlis, D. Perdikidis, T. Stamos, M. Prasinos.
It also includes works by artists who defined the international face of Greek art, such as J. Psychopedis, C. Romanos, Y. Bouteas, Chryssa, N. Kanagini, V. Sperantzas, Y. Mihailidis, J. Molfessis, A. Levidis, as well as the modern trends: M. Zamboura, M. Zacharioudakis, D. Angelidou, M. Giannakaki.
Similarly, the works of printmakers such as V. Katraki, A. Tassos, K. Grammatopoulos, T. Nikolaidou, G. Varlamos, R. Tzolakis, M. Arfaras, D. Siaterli, V. Tsalamata and K. Papamichalopoulos. All these artists define the highly interesting evolution of Greek printmaking.
